Yes; they could ban your whole console, making you have to buy a completely new one.

Ive been told (by someone on here) that Sony cant console ban on CFW and if they ip ban just turn your internet box off for 10 seconds or ring your ISP

to be fair thats bullshit its impossible cfw ps3 connect to psn the same way so they can always ban you for example psp and 360s can still get banned with cfw on.AND they console ban you so you cant undo it unless you find away to change the serial of the console and/or mac address but these might cause problems with components communicating and brick your ps3.

They can ban the console ID. Microsoft did this back during the original xbox days and I believe still do so for Jtag 360's.

However I've heard there is an id changer for PS3 due to the keys being available so I don't think anyone really has to worry. You might have to make a new account but who cares.
