(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok guys so ive been getting ALOT of PM's, messages, and quotes asking HOW to get a backup game from the PC to the ps3 and once transferred HOW to boot it.

SO, here is a little thread explaining how to do so. Please no flaming, if this has been posted and explained better, link me to it and i will have this thread removed.

Tutorial

Requirements:

  • CFW 3.55 with backup compatibility (ex: waninkoko 3.55)
  • Black Box FTP server
  • Backup manager (multiman, rogero)
  • Downloaded backup on your PC
  • FileZilla

Getting the backup from the PC to the ps3

  • Ok so first thing your going to do is on your ps3 console open up/start Black Box FTP server.

  • Next, on your PC open up FileZilla.

  • On your ps3 with the FTP server running there should be an ip address on the screen. Now type this ip address into the top left corner box titled 'host' on filezilla on your PC. Once you have done this click the "quickconnect" button.

  • Ok now that filezilla is connected to your console, on the RIGHT side of filezilla navigate to where your backup manager stores/saves backed up games. (For example Multiman uses the folder called GAMES, so i would navigate to dev_hdd0/GAMES)

  • Now on the LEFT side of filezilla navigate to where you have the game backup you downloaded. (should be something like BLUS30500)

  • Once you have done this, simply click, hold, and DRAG the folder of the game backup over to right side and DROP it there. Give it some time 20-30 minutes and let the folder/files COMPLETELY transfer over.

  • Once this is completed you can then RESTART your ps3 console, now your backup is successfully on your HDD.

Booting the game:

  • First, open up your backup manager that you use.

  • Once opened, the list of games should now have the name of the game you transferred over from your PC.

  • *INSERT* a BLUE RAY disk into the console! (ANY DISK)

  • Now, click on the game you backed up and it should boot you back to the XMB screen. (IF using multiman, it will ask you if you want to boot the game without going to the XMB, click NO!)

  • Once you have been booted back to the main XMB screen, navigate over to the Game icon and scroll down to where the disk icon is. Now instead of saying the name of the blue ray disk you inserted into the ps3 it should say the name of the backed up game you chose to boot!

  • Click and play.

Did you follow the instructions on how to boot the game? If your using a backup you had on GEO 3.55 and are now on Waninkoko i would delete the backup, then re backup, then follow my steps above on how to boot the game. I got NFS backed up and it works fine with the method above.

Also, i suggest using rogero manager because if you have a screwed up eboot, it asks if you would like to fix it.

Do externals still have to be FAT32 formatted?
