because i really want to start hosting them again but i want to know the risk beforehand so can someone please tell me what the risks are?

You can still host them. But for your "safety", some people are saying that you have to go back to official firmware after getting everything you need from the custom firmware. I myself didn't do that but most people i know are telling me to, so i guess i'll do it later. And not all Playstation Network rumors are true.
