Long story short i updated to 3.56 and everything was fine, but i tried to see if factory service mode would work which it did but i could not exit out of it (plz don't read the rest unless ur willing to help me). Then i went and downloaded the 3.56 update from the playstation website and put it the PS3/UPDATE/(ps3 update.pup went in here) on a 2gb usb stick/jump drive along with the LV2.diag file (bcuz at the time i was still in factory service mode). So this is when it happened, i attempted to REINSTALL the 3.56 update and it copied over and as soon as it came to the install screen my ps3 froze and a red screen came up saying to contact sony. After that i tried formatting my hdd on my computer to FAT32 and now it wont do anything but i think it is still in factory service mode. All in all i think im practically screwed, bcuz i don't think that sony will fix it if they see that i jailbroke and did the prestige hack so plzzzz reply if you think you know what i should do. (Also haven't tried this yet but would it be a bad idea to put my other PS3's hdd in the RSOD PS3 and see if it will boot off the hard drive and format it in recovery menu (unless SONY blocked that too)but i mean if it's stuck at the install but has it already copied on the PS3 then wouldn't it work)

youve bricked your ps3 im pretty sure your screwed now but you could try searching these forums for how to unbrick a ps3, good luck

yup you most likely bricked your ps3 so your pretty much fu**ed unless you find something on the internet that unbricks your ps3 well have a fun time trying

Okay listen there is a way but not yet. Im in the same position im in service mode stuck in 3.56 service mode now i reflashed the NAND n got the same problem ass you (RSOD) the only way to fix this is to EXTERNALLY reflash your NAND or wait until they come out with the Lv2diag.self working files for 3.56 and reflash to a lower firmware than exit service mode. SONY are asshole's for doing this.... they will pay:carling:

how did u get in to "factory service mode" i tried bricking my fat to downgrade bak to cfw but it wouldnt die built like a warrior these things lately

I used an E3 card reader and the old .bin files that were used on the old firmwares, but then i got stuck:banhamma:

Thank you so much for telling me about that thread but :confused: there is only one problem with that theory of downgrading and its that i formatted the hdd after i got the red screen. So i tried to use my ps3 slim's hdd and it still didn't work its almost like it is blocking the usb stick with the lv2diag and the 3.41 modded firmware like which was kinda my first problem to begin with and it is 100% formatted FAT32 so i might as well just give up

I'm glad we were able to help ya bro.... but listen, here's ur 1st mistake..prestiging to 15th on black ops...u did ask to get banned...second why did u go to 3.56? man u reallly set up ur self for disaster...sometimes to be honest with you, if all this happens, it's much easier to dish out another $299 for a brand new PS3 (not used ones on ebay that are bricked) and get a new PSN account...start ur slate clean...keep ur old ps3 for hacking and new one for legit stuff.... now, was that silly 15th pretige worth all this agrevation? be honest...besides black ops tottally overated, but thats for another discussion....let me know how else we can help u bro...hope u learned ur lesson.....
