if you backup all your ps3 data onto a big memory stick
you can then access it on the computer and go onto the patches part and then change the mw2 for a modded mw2 patch
and then load up your data on your ps3 again and then you should have your custom patch

I DONT KNOW IF THIS WORKS its just my theory

This theory doesn't work, because if you get your MW2 patch on your extern harddrive (which will probably NOT work) you could edit it, BUT, how would you like to get the patch back on your PS3? There is no FTP Server to get the patch on your PS3, there is nothing to get the edited patch_mp.ff back on your PS3.
