Post: If I were to reformat...

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have 2 ps3s, one I'm kicking around the idea of reformatting so that I can reinstall the OFW 3.55 followed by the CFW 3.55.

My question is would this be a complete waste of time or is this a good idea seeing that I have this option to reformat to do away with the 3.56 OFW and can play online with my other PS3?

If I can do this and just get the 3.55 back on I will tackle the getting back online from there.

Thanks for any thoughts!

Are you saying both are on 3.56, if so reformatting will not get rid of the 3.56 OFW, if it did there would be a lot less talk about downgrading

Yes both are on 3.56 OFW, and you make a good point..but by reformatting would this not wipe it completely out including 3.56 OFW and put it back to "Day 1"? This is what a total reformat does, wipes all current and past content off and starts over fresh. This is the case with a CPU so it would be the same for a PS3 correct? Eek

Welp..you were right, reformatted and the 3.56 OFW is still there...it was worth a try at least if nothing else..:jim:

Well you never know until you try...I was going off CPU knowledge as in reformatting a CPU wipes it all out back to day 1. I wasn't thinking about the PS3 HDD would be the only thing restored.
