If you are looking for an alternative to PSN, this handy tool called XBSLink have the ability to play LAN games over the internet. It has been updated recently to a new version with major improvements and bug fixes. Check here below for the changelog:
-fixed annoying bug in STUN code
-stability improvements (yeah, damn null pointers…*lol*)
-option to start WinPCap from XBSlink if NPF driver not started
-standard Nickname is now auto-generated (eg. Anonymous7259)
-switched to VS2010
-switched to .NET 3.5
Simply run XBSlink on a computer connected to the same network as your console, connect to another XBSlink user on the Internet or a XBSlink cloud and play your favorite Game over the SystemLink feature just as if the game consoles where on the same network.
-play any XBox360 or PS3/2 System Link enabled Game over your Internet Connection
-self organizing P2P structure
-fast, low latency, multihreaded application design
-unlimited number of users
-automatic UPnP NAT port forwarding (if supported by your router)
-support for STUN server protocol to detect the NAT type of your network.
-optional advanced forwarding of broadcast (this helps with some games and might even enable platforms other then the Xbox360)
-option to always forward packets from a list of manually entered network devices.
-internal chat to communicate with connected XBSlink nodes
Cloud list – join a cloud of other XBSlink users
