Post: stuck in 3.60 service/factory mode

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); here's the short and sweet version of what happened..

I have a kiosk ps3 so i need to flash the firmware.

it was 3.55..i succesfully downgraded to 3.41 ofw. theoretically all i needed to do from there was just update the system, but i kept getting an error code 8002f147 when trying to install ofw 3.60 via internet or usb storage device. same problem occured when trying to install ofw 3.55 via usb storage device. (i will make clear at this point that i do not want a jailbroken/hacked ps3, just wanted one with retail FW on it so i could access psn and play online and all that good stuff)

after hours of playing with this i decided to load the lv2diag file 1 and the 3.60 OFW onto a usb drive and have it automatically update itself through service mode (through the same way you would downgrade FW). And this worked, it loaded FW 3.60 on the ps3, but now because the lvdiag files are for 3.55 i cannont use the lvdiag file from file 2 to get it out of factory/service mode. it tries to, but it just stays on the black screen forever and does nothing. no flash drive light, or hdd light, so nothing is happening.

does aaaaanyone have any idea on what i can do?

I attempted to format the hdd through the ps3 out of desperation but I guess it can't format in service mode because i was getting an error as soon as it would start.

Any help would be much appreciated.

There is no way to currently get out of 3.56 - 3.60 service mode. You are out of luck!
Very sorry.. Hopefully some progression is made soon.

Well thank you for the quick and concise reply. I suppose its my own fault for not taking a second to think that a 3.55 diag file shouldnt, and wouldn't work with a FW newer than that. it was a gamble.

Thanks again though

As soon as there a way though, be sure to post it here! Dancing

There most likely won't be a way to do such a thing for a long time, you need to sign files as official and you need the private keys for that, and there is no way to currently get them due to the exploit used to get them being fixed.

yeaaaaa, i figured that was probably true. Now i'm wondering if its worth it to just break down and put a new ps3 on the credit card and pay it down. I'm kinda eager to play cause i just got a ps3 and have only been usin it for a week before i did this

well, when i got the kiosk ps3, it was running in demostration mode on 3.40 fw and i had to enter a security key to unlock it partially. i thought that if i updated it it might fix the problem. It updated to 3.55 but it was still in demo mode and i still had to enter a key to partially unlock it. i say partialy because even though it was updated, i could not access psn so i could not update games or play online.

I read all kinds of write ups on how to convert it to a retail ps3, and one of the steps involved was having to downgrade to version 3.41. from there i should've just been able to hop on PSN and update to the current FW and have a retail (not demo) ps3. Everything worked, it downgraded and was running retail FW, no more security code needed, but no matter how i tried to update to the current 3.60 fw, or even 3.55 fw, i was getting an error.

in hind sight i see that i should've loaded 3.55 in the fashion that i loaded 3.60. it would still have given me the ability to downgrade if needed, get out of security/recovery mode, and also may have allowed the ps3 to update from 3.55 to 3.60, buuuut i can't do anything about that now except buy a new ps3, or wait for 3.60 downgrade files, which who knows how long that will take

i would sell that ps3 on ebay before sony reduces the price of new playstations, in germany (where Im from), you would get at least 100 euro for it

yea, well the only thing is my buddy snagged this from his job, and when i had it working on OFW 3.41 i was gonna trade it in towards a new one, but my buddy was concerned that he would get fired because the serial number on the back of the PS3 is logged with his job and if it came back the a store ps3 got returned for trade-in credit, he would probably get fired. I fear the samething would happen if it was sold on ebay and someone tried to do the samething. so as for right now i have a really cool paper weightHappy
