Post: Need help with fail0verflow tools!
03-25-2011, 02:18 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have an early version of fail0verflow's tools, and when I try to use unpkg on anything, I get this error:

unknown pkg type: 6465765f
perror: Success

and it doesn't work! Can anyone please help, and would anyone also know where I could get the latest fail0verflow tools? (Preferrably compiled, if not I would be very grateful if someone could tell me how to compile them). Any help at all will be greatly appreciated. Happy Thanks.

BTW: I am attempting to unpack a PS3 update. I am using unpkg on files in update_files.tar in the PS3UPDAT.PUP

You're most likely using the wrong thing, unpkg isn't meant work on all..

Find ungpkg then use that like I said in your last thread.

Yea, I was thinking that's the problem. Thing is I have an old version of fail0verflow's tools so I don't have ungpkg. Would you happen to be able to know where I can get the latest tools? Prefferably compiled, if not compiled, could you please show me how to compile them? Thanks so much dude Happy

I tried looking for quite a while today and yesterday. Trust me, I Google everything before asking about it Winky Winky Starting going into some confusing stuff about using Cygwin (which I do have installed, but am not very familiar with) and got lost into some random crap ): Trying again...

UPDATE

lol cygwin

SInce you're obviously using windows just find ungpkg.exe and then run it in CMD.. you use it by cd'ing to the directory everything is in then you use it like ungpkg package.PKG (output folder here)

Sweet, i'll try it Winky Winky how about compiling for linux? Cuz I just cloned a git repository of a whole bunch of fail0verflow tools Happy but don't know how to compile them ): Google only came up with a result for how to compile for Windows, then gave me bull**** link :/ Btw thank you so much for all the help you have given me I know how much of a pain I have been lately but I am just trying to learn ):

UPDATE

If I try to run one of the .exe tools on Windows, it just opens CMD real quick then closes. ):
Btw: This thread is the only good link on Google for compiling fail0verflow tools on linux

i think you need to check my guide You must login or register to view this content.

Thanks for the help guys! After unpacking dev_flash_000.tar.aa I got a file called "unpkg.exe.stackdump" and the CMD reads this:

    cygwin warning:
MS-DOS style path detected: C:\Users\Aiman\Desktop\3.60 Unpacked\Update Files\
dev_flash_000.tar.aa.2011_03_04_024232
Preferred POSIX equivalent is: /3.60 Unpacked/Update Files/dev_flash_000.tar.a
a.2011_03_04_024232
CYGWIN environment variable option "nodosfilewarning" turns off this warning.
Consult the user's guide for more details about POSIX paths:
https://cygwin.com/cygwin-ug-net/using.html#using-pathnames
12 [main] unpkg 11432 exception::handle: Exception: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION

2428 [main] unpkg 11432 open_stackdumpfile: Dumping stack trace to unpkg.exe.
stackdump

What do I do with the .exe.stackdumpfile? Is there any other file I am supposed to have?

Ok so, when using fail0verflow's tools to unpack something in the update, it says "key not found". I am assuming this means we need the ps3 keys before modding the update?
