Data transferring only one file seems impossible. nice out-of-the-box idea though.

If you're thinking about updating but want to keep patches, simply put the patch on and backup data to usb and save on computer. If you want different patches for the same game then make multiple backups.

Surely wouldn't a ps3 emulator app for the PC using a crossover cable make just as much sense? For transfer and backup of data, then any patches could be moved / added with the backup?
