It depends on what firmware you're currently on mate.

It's possible to downgrade the firmwares 3.55 or lower but not 3.56 and onwards.

I was thinking about this earlier, with the 3.55 downgrade there is a modded 3.41 PS3UPDAT.PUP that is spoofed to 3.56 (If you have done this method before without downgrading to 3.40, when you go into recovery mode it asks for 3.56 or higher).

What happens if you try to install this modded/spoofed PS3UPDAT.PUP in normal/recovery mode?
