if u can start ps3 like normally, try Full reset or change fw

You could tri-Force your hard drive

How are you putting it into recovery mode, holding the power button waiting for three evenly spaced out beeps and then the click of your Ps3 turning off before releasing the button, then turning it back on again??

What was you doing before your Ps3 black screened?? Have you tried connecting your Ps3 to your tv using the component leads rather than your hdmi lead?? it is possible that your settings have reset. Try that and if you get a picture change your settings back to hdmi. it happened to me once.
