This is just an Update of the Debian Based Linux is called Red Ribbon, its actively being updated and below are the features and change log.
This build can be ran via LiveCD or through media/HDD storage (recommended).Download link can be found below.

right i got something to ask i not installed linux on my ps3 because at the time could not be assed lol well my ps3 it now on 3.01 after a downgrade so what am asking how do i got about installing this on my ps3 though other-os any help would be great thanks bud just read it all and it say i need to put it on a cd is there any other way to install linux like on my usb

Yeah bro you can boot it from a usb or external HDD but unfortunately you need to Download and burn the CD (i provided the Download link in my post) to do and external HDD/USB or internal installation.I dont know why you have to have the cd to do internal/external installation but you do.But burning the CD isnt that hard...i did it in like 30 mins If your still confused about it you can go to the source i provided there is a full TUT on how to install it. ya am going to have to buy some cd disk to be able to install it i read it and i no what to do now just go out tomo and buy the cd i need to do it thanks for getting back to me bud

you may have to backup your savedata from ps3 I recommend to you to backup your ps3 savedata into a external hardrive
