i believe i have a nor based console however i am beginning to doubt it (its a cechl03 so should be samsung nor flash).
we all remember the false tutorial on downgrading our ps3s yes? the one where you corrupt the hdd? well i did this and tho the downgrade didnt work (obviously) it has made me wonder, if a nor console stores part of the firmware on the hdd (which it does), when you corrupt the hdd the firmware shouldnt be able to be restored and it should therefore result in a (semi?) brick so the question is this - why doesnt it and why is it able to completely restore the firmware, or is my console actually a nand in the box of a nor? im really perplexed about this as im getting progskeet and im wondering about the nand/nor dump size which is why i went onto this train of thought.
anyone have an insight into this or am i gonna have to find out what i have when im installing my skeet?

Although admittedly I have no idea about the NOR or anything that entails, I'm pretty sure critical firmware files are always stored on a NAND. I think. Hmmm... :confused:

yes but where is the firmware stored on a nor console? this is the question that puzzles me because the firmware is roughly 170 meg and the nor holds only 16 meg so how can a 16 meg nor hold 170 meg worth of data? i really would like an expert to enlighten me about this. the best bet is it probably also has a nand or other storage area but if thats the case why bother switching from nand to nor. its a real puzzle.
