(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hi, someone gave me a PS3 wich as the RSOD, CECHK01 model (fat, no backwards, 2 usb, 80gb)

Now the first mistake I did, was formatted the hard drive in my computer (FAT32) and checked to see if the hard drive was defective, wich it wasn't.

The second mistake was, after I put the freshly formatted hard drive back in, I downloaded OFW 3.70 and updated while in the recovery menu, thinking this would probably fix the problem. I did not pay attention the the OFW prior to this, I think it was 3.55 but not sure.

The update process goes good, finishes to 100% then reboots to RSOD. Tried several times , always ask for software 3.70 or higher.

My own ps3 is identical to the RSOD ps3, CECHK01 model (fat, no backwards, 2 usb, 80gb) OFW 3.70 on it.

Tried swapping hard drive between them, still RSOD, the other ps3 formatted and continued no problem.

Opened up the RSOD ps3, was never opened before, everything looked plugged in perfectly, no apparent signs of damage or overheating. Cleaned it up, put some new thermal paste, closed it back up, repeated to update process, same situation RSOD after the update.

Now I would like to know, is there any way to find out if this is a physical problem? If this can be fixed by flashing the nand with a Progskeet or soon to come E3 flasher, I don't mind buying it to try it out. But want to make sure, the ps3 doesn't have hardware damage first. As I would have no other use of this flasher, as my other ps3 will always be running OFW.

Also, while the PS3 was appart, I looked at the bluray drive, all the gears and tracks were functioning properly, and while in recovey mode, when I chose system update, It looks like it tries to check for it on the bluray drive before the USB Thumbdrive.

Also, I don't get the wave for a split second like some other RSOD I saw on YouTube, it's black screen, a little beep (from the tv speakers, not the PS3 system itself) and RSOD right away.

Anybody as any advice or can point me towards the right place?
Thanks in advance, any help would be appreciated.

Depends usually you can tell if it is a hardware problem by the % it stops on but it sounds like you got it from replacing your hard drive which can be fix with Progskeet

I had it 2 times
I fix mine 3.60 with it
I fix mine 3.55 with factory service
