(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); For those on the fence about getting Cobra USB for the PS3, perhaps this will push you over. The Cobra USB team has released firmware v4.0, which now enables PSP games–in ISO format–to boot on the PS3. Support for PSP games is limited but a number of games will play just fine on the PS3. Not to mention, there are a few bugs that need to be squashed—the team is looking into it.

- Added initial support to play PSP games in iso format. Please read the user manual for instructions.
The emulator is not perfect and it currently fails in saving/loading data, but there are several games playable at full speed. We’ve fixed some bugs in the emulator, and it loads now more games that it originally did. In the future, we will continue to improve the compatibility of the emulator and fix the savedata issue.

- A new version of cobraflash has been released, and is required to install firmware 4.0, that uses a new format. You can find it in the download section. Drivers remain the same, there is no need to update them.
New update format is more secure against bad writes, and it will be compatible with cobra updater for PS3 which will be released along with firmware 4.1.

Playing PSP backups (excerpt from the manual):

Initial setup: install the “Cobra-USB_PSP-Launcher.pkg” package available on You must login or register to view this content..
Do not run this package when you see the “NO GAME” icon or the ps3 will crash/reboot.

Once PSP-Launcher is installed, follow these instructions to play a psp backup:

Start Cobra USB Manager from XMB.
Press square five times to change to PSP mode (four times if PS2 is not enabled).
Choose the backup from the list and press X.
Cobra USB Manager will mount the backup and exit. Now PSP-Launcher has the icon of the PSP backup and you can start the game from there.
Cobra USB Manager uses the following directories for PSP backups:

/dev_hdd0/PSPISO
/dev_usbXXX/PSPISO
Allowed format are:

ISO, the typical backup format used by the psp homebrew community. CSO format is not supported yet. EBOOT.BIN in the iso can be either encrypted or decrypted.
Known issues:

Savedata loading/saving fails: this problem will be addressed in a future update.
Not all games play: the emulator is not perfect, but we fixed some sony bugs on it and it now loads more games that it originally did. In the future, we expect to be able to do more patches to increase its compatibility.

you need cobras dongle which enables the firmware. It is only a matter of time before someone like rebug figures out the things cobra has enabled and release it in a free CFW.

Buy a 360 if you want that, you would first have to get the security that says insert into a 360 console to play. Then even in the small chance that happens, the games are calibrated for the 360 controller control's would be clunky and not on key.
In addition most ps3s have trouble reading dl dvds (what 360 games are on ).
