For those of you who don't know, the 3K3y is an optical disk drive emulator which allows you to play your PS3, PS2 and PSX games from any USB device. Previously, a major limiting factor of the device was that all PS3s on firmware 4.XX must be downgraded in order to retrieve the drive key. According to a recent post on X360key's Facebook page, this is no longer the case with the upcoming 3k3y firmware update.

If this works as advertised, this will be a great option for PS3 users who are on firmware 4.XX yet still want to play backups.

is this the same as the cobra ode? i have heard 3k3y mentioned before but never paid much attention, but know that cobra have done a similar thing that promises backups and homebrew on any firmware, whilst maintaining access to psn etc I think. Wouldn't know where to begin fitting one of these though so wont ever be getting one

Cool But I'm using cobra ode I'm already jailbroken but I'm going to install it for my cousin on his slim ps3 it's non downgradeible plus I pre-ordered it so lets see what happens.

Yeah I should thx but whean u go on the site click on downloads and you will see they are going to post a guide of how it works and all that jazz I want to see if multiman and congmies awesome file manger actually works on ofw can't wait to install this hope its easier then the E3 Flasher.

i dont think so. If you are using this on ofw, lv2 wont be patched meaning that there will be no peek and poke (access to ps3 filesystem)
