(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); When I tried to change my coldboot yesterday I was a bit disappointed on how my DEX PS3 won't allow me to mount /dev_blind to install the necessary files. So today I'll create a simple tutorial for those who are in the same predicament.

Firstly, we need to download a nice little program called PRX LOADER:
You must login or register to view this content.
Put it on a USB stick and install via 'Install Package Files' or FTP over wireless/Ethernet and install that way.
Next, load up the App we just installed, It will back out to the XMB, this is OK and is supposed to happen.
Now go to your computer, (the computer has to be on the same network as your PS3, it most likely is).
Type in the IP address of your PS3, this can be found by just looking at the bottom-right of your TV, it should say 'IP Address: ' and then lists the IP address of the PS3.
This could also be done by going to 'Network Settings' then 'Settings and Connection Status List'.
Type the IP Address into the URL bar at the top of the browser and hit enter. You should get something like this:

At the top choose the tab 'Setup'. It should now look like this:

Obviously we need to select 'Enable /dev_blind (writable /dev_flash) on startup'.
As you can see I already have.
Now go to the bottom and hit save:

You now receive the message: 'Settings updated and will have effect on next system boot.
Click here to restart your PLAYSTATION®3 system now.' Click the word 'here' if that wasn't obvious.
Your PS3 will restart.
Load up PRX LOADER again.
Once it's exited to the XMB, type your PS3's IP Address into your browser's URL bar again.
You should be greeted with this:

As you can now see we have a dev_blind option.
We can now explore the PS3's dev_blind. But we want to change the PS3's coldboot files.
We need to load up a FTP app on our computer, I'll use FileZilla, but any will work.
Once it's opened, go to 'File' -> 'Site Manager'
Make a new site called PS3 (name doesn't actually matter)
The 'Host' needs to be the PS3's IP address, the 'Port' is 21 for FTP apps.
Protocol should be: 'FTP - File Transfer Protocol.'
Encryption: 'Use plain FTP'
Logon Type: 'Normal'
User: 'root'
Password: 'password'
It should now look something like this:

Hit 'Connect'
We now have the folder 'dev_blind' in the right panel.
Explore by double-clicking it, we need to go to '/dev_blind/vsh/resource'.
In the left plane, navigate to where your coldboot.raf, coldboot_multi.ac3, coldboot_stereo.ac3
are kept, (I made a folder on my Desktop). Now select the three files, right click, then click 'Upload'.
You must login or register to view this content.
Restart your PS3 to enjoy your new coldboot!
Sorry about the image quality.

That's what I tried first, some people have had an issue with this not showing up on certain versions of MultiMan. This DEFINITELY works as I've tried it. The last time I tried the MultiMan route, I managed to mount dev_blind but when it came to FTP'ing, the overriding failed. I'm just showing an alternate route.
