(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I think I have a dip on my rsx chip and it seems a penny helps to make contact and allows for me to get video feed. However, the ps3 does overheat which I believe it or due to air gaps. Can I use a thermal pad instead of the paste or does the heat sink and heat shield have to come in contact with each other? Also, I have stripped out one hole on the rsx heat sink. What is recommended to to fix this and best place to purchase the whole fan and heat sink assy if needed? Thanks.

First rule out if it is an imperfection in the IHS buy getting a piece of glass and pressing on it with thermal paste checking if it spreads good, if it does it could be bad heatsinks which are warped but it probably overheats because the thermal paste under the IHS is all dry, probably the issue not an imperfection in the chip.

OP! ffs bake the ps3 in the oven following the ngu tutorial before you break it permanently.
