first thing i would try is cleaning the lense with a cotton bud and some diluted acetone aka nail varnish remover.

be gentle dont scratch, just clean dont polish.

use the cotton bud wet with acetone to gently clean off dirt then use a dry bud to wipe it again while still wet from first attempt. dont wipe when too dry.

the acetone will not melt the lense and you might aswell clean both lenses dvd/bd.

you can clean the lense but its only gunna last sso long u can buy new one for $25 $30

well "so long" can be a long time, some of the bd drives i have cleaned for customers are still going strong over a year after clean.
