when i try and sign in message pops up saying "connection to the network could not be established" and dont know what to do"

could be many things.

first give us the details of your ps3

model, firmware version etc.

If possible do a wired connection. Don't mess with any of the DNS, ip, or proxy settings. Do automatic on all and do not use for proxy server. Then try, if still occurs unplug your router for 5 sec or more then try it once the router establishes internet connection.

Run a connection test and let us know where it failed at, also like man above, if your on CFW what fw are you using.

I ran a connection test and it failed on its ip although when i go on my other PlayStation its fine. I'm also on 4.50 rogero.

the fix seems to be reinstall firmware, or better upgrade.

reinstalling the same firmware is very straight forward and should not lose anything.
