Ftp, File managers are simply used the same way but one includes Wifi and the other needs a pen drive,

Okay here is how you will upload a patch useing file manager

Now, make sure you have some kind of a storage device(USB Stick, External HardDrive etc.) with your desired patch on it. Your patch does not have to be in the root of your storage device, it can be in a folder or whatever.
Make sure that your USB or External HDD is plugged into your playstation console. Now that its plugged in, open up your File Manager and navigate down to dev_hdd0 and press x. Now you need to go down to the folder entitled game and press x. Now choose your BLES/BLUS (mine is BLES00683). Press x on whatever your BLES/BLUS is. Now, this will show up with alot of folders from all different games. If your looking for the folder for MW2, go to USRDIR and click it.Now press right on your Dpad and locate Dev_usb and Look for your patch that you would like to transfer, once you have found it Press O and then start.
Once you have done that Quit your file manager/Ftp and run your game (some people reset there ps3 but there is no need)
