if you buy a brand new ps3 from a store chances are its going to be a higher firmware than 3.55 which means you cant just put in recovery and install 3.55...
if you can find old bundle packs like the pack with resistance fall of man or black ops it would more than likely be a 3.55 or lower as they were the current firmwares upon release of these games but its quite a risk youd be better off buying a ps3 listed as 3.55 rather than buying and hoping its on firmware 3.55 or lower... i hope this is a better answer to your question

Buy a pre-owned PS3 that has 3.55 already on, you will be waiting long time for a new CFW.

What about e3team? I think we need to wait till midokt then there is probably nothing.
But E3 team is the most trustable hacker cause they managed the first downgrade.
