My PS3 recently got YLOD and my warranty ran out time ago, So I was wondering from people who have had their PS3's fixed by Websites an Localshops ect. (not Sony) Are the Fixes reliable or will my PS3 eventually break again.

Heres the website I was going too use You must login or register to view this content.

The website gives a warranty of 30 days after my fix but I dont want too be shelling out eighty quid for it too just break again after my warranty runs out
.

Not very... Infact I wouldn't even waste your money.
I fixed my own with proper stuff that cost me nearly £40 in total.
I fixed it and it worked fine for a couple of month.. After that I got YLOD again.

So I fixed it AGAIN and after about 3/4 days it happened again.
So I fixed it again then after about 2 hours it died again.

Trust me the best thing to do is fix it and sell it as soon as you can Winky Winky
It might not be worth much because of the warranty seal has been removed but you'll still be able to sell it.
After selling buy a new one.

I'd say you do it yourself or send it to Sony.
It's not worth paying for as it rarely lasts a few months.
My friend has been fixing his YLOD'd Ps3 every month or two himself.
since it dies alot.
He says that he shoulda just sent it into sony and upgraded to a Slim.

A little word of advice call Sony, My friends has had his PS3 since release date he got YLOD last week he called them they told him to send it in with $120 bucks and he would get back a 120GB Slim in return the Shipping too & from him is included in the $120. So I guess your loosing your fat system but your getting a new system for $120 from Sony.

I have yet to experience the YLOD. My PS3 has been holding strong for quite a long time now. If you sent it to Sony then it is probably more reliable then fixing it yourself.

A 120Gb Slim....this would suck because I have a 320Gb upgraded HDD. Guess I have to constantly keep my HDD backed up just in case. I wouldn't mind sending in a $120 on my old fat if it stopped working and got a Slim. However, I would immediately have to switch out the HDD because I have about 135Gb used up. And I just got that HDD in on Thursday. I have a lot of music and programs to put on there.

40Gb bought between Jan.2008 and June.2008? One of the most reliable versions of that model, and one of the most reliable PS3's to date.

Almost too stable...
