So now i have decided to make quick text Tutorial to save you guys ringing Sony and waiting ages lol.

When you have a corrupt HDD your Console will prompt you to restore your HDD (this is only a minior restore) This takes on averages less than 5 minutes. However this only restores previous data from a few days earlier. Some people cannot get past thsi stage and the HDD don't restore or they do get past it but the system keeps prompting you to restore when you turn it on.

Here is how to restore system setting (if you have minor corruption).

1. Make sure you Console is switched off and in stand by mode.
2. Hold down your Playstation 3 Power button (On/Off button) until it bleeps twice then returns to a red standby light.
3. Hold down the power button again until it bleeps once, then does double bleep. Now your system should start up with a green power light.
4. It will now ask you to connect your controller with a USB cable.
5. Once doing this you will get 6 options. Scroll down to option 5.
6. Select option 5 (system restore) this will now reset your ps3 time, date, network settings and all general settings.
7. Fill out all the settings again and then it should work without corruption.

However for most people this HDD corruption still persists. This means you have a more heavier corruption with your game data or downloads, This is usually caused by a download from the ps store that has failed to download fully and you have then powered off the system.

Once doing all the steps above you should not get a corruption on your next system start up (hopfully). This is a slight temporary fix and you will need to do it quite often.

Here is how to fix heavier corruption.

1. Follow the steps above
2. Turn on your system
3. Hopefully it should power on without corruption message. (if it does just attempt to restore from the message)
4. Go to system settings
5. scroll down to System restore
6. This will now restore and wipe everything from your HDD (this is a more permanent fix)

Restoring from this method has an estimated time of 14 hours and 50 minutes. And you will lose all game saves and downloads.

If your problem persists ring Sony and they may offer you a console exchange if you are still in warranty. If you are not they request a price for repair (usually £130) and they will refurbish your console.

Hope i helped :carling:
