This is my thread about the turtle beach px1.

What is a turtle beach?

A turtle beach is a surrond sound gaming headset with a headset for online gaming.

What does it do?

It redirects all the sound from your t.v into a set of headphones and turns it into surrond sound.
Example for it's use: You are playing call of duty and when people are a distance away from you, you can hear the direction there running also if they are planting a bomb.

The turtle beach px1 is a turtle beach x1 but it has adapters which allow it to be compatible with the playstation.

Uses:

For a ps3,
For a xbox,
For a computer.

Advantages:

You can hear the direction people are running in,
It is a usb headset so it doesnt run out of charge,
Your sound isnt interputted by a family member making noise,
It only picks up your voice on the headset it doesnt pick up your breathing or any outside noise,
You can mute your microphone but still hear your friends.

How is it setup:

Here is a picture of the setup with ps3:

Using the x1 with the playstation:

The Ear Force PX1 combines an X1 amplified gaming headset with an Amigo USB sound card to provide online chat and stereo game sound on the PlayStation 3 game console.

The PlayStation game audio connects to the X1 amplifier with the included “piggyback” stereo RCA cable, allowing you to simultaneously connect the X1 headphones and your TV or sound system.

The chat level of other players is set from the PlayStation setup screen, so you can easily balance the game audio and chat signals and hear both in the headphones.

The Amigo connects to the PlayStation USB port and the X1 microphone connects to the Amigo’s mic input, allowing you to chat with others on-line. A mic mute switch on the X1 amplifier lets you turn off the mic when you don’t want to be heard.

I hope this helped you.

The PX1's are not surround sound, they're only stereo!

If you want surround sound for your PS3, you'll want to get something like the Tritton AXPro:

The Tritton AXPro's are really cool. I've been trying different headsets for months now, and the AXPro's are the only ones (once you get the setting's right) that allow me to know exactly where someone is sneaking up on me from! The cost is kinda high, $159 but that's a lot cheaper than the Astro P40's and the adapter, which is $249 Eek

I've tried the PX1's and they're really great. However, they're not surround. If you never try "real" surround headsets, you'll never know the difference! Besides, the Ear Force PX1's are only $79.99, so if you're on a budget, they're the best deal for awesome game sounds and chat in one headset, for the PS3. My wife uses the PX1 (They're actually Ear Force X1's) on the PC for her games and chatting and she really loves them. They're comfy and they don't hurt her ears like the others we tried. Also, they're lightweight so you don't really feel them there.

It depends on your budget/gaming needs as to what's a "good value", you know?
