I have a PS3, but most of my friends have xboxs. i was wondering why, when we play online, why can't x boxs and ps3s play together. I Mean the whole console wars and what not is one reason. But microsoft and sony would make so much money if we could all just play along lol. I know they wont ever do it, but just as a though, is it even possible???
I wish they would make it like that especially now that PSN has PSN+.... That would solve a lot of the console wars crap because Xbox people could not say that PS3 people do not knwo how to play and PS3 people cannot say that xbox people do not know how to play.... and Life would be a much better place...
I do not believe that Final fantasy 11 was all together.. But I do not know I haven't ever played it...
Theres the good and bad think about it..if only one console provided ALL the games they could put ridiculous prices and people would still buy them..but if there are competition between xbox and ps3 they would have to price war so we benefit in the end i say get both ps3 and xbox if you have the cash but...i've always been a ps kid and will stay one haha
No this isnt Evan Possible See Sony Has a server They made Ps3 so The PSN connects to The Sony Server So It Isnt Possible To Play with Pc,Xbox, Or Any other Console See Like The Xbox... Is Microsoft And Microsoft Has a Server for There Company In The Server Thire Is Xbox Live You cant Connect PSN with Xbox Live See Look at It This way
Severs
l
Sony Website l PSN l ECT....
l
PSN
l
Millions Of PSN Users
Same With the Xbox You Cant Connect The Two Servers together they Run Diffrent Scripts And Stuf Imagine Have To pay PSN Points or Something like that its imposible!

Like someone said above I've heard of a game that is already doing this. The developer of the game would need to have you connect to their servers or something.
Nobody was suggesting that we play on one or the others server. Merely that you play together on the same server. That is possible and has been for a long time(according to wikipedia)
Several developers have implemented means to play games online while using different platforms. Epic Games, Microsoft, and Valve Software all possess technology that allows Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers to play with PC gamers, leaving the decision of which platform to use to consumers. The first game to allow this level of interactivity between PC and console games was Quake 3.[citation*needed]
Games that feature cross-platform online play include:
DC Universe Online (future release)
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
Lost Planet: Colonies
Phantasy Star Online
Shadowrun
Uno
Final Fantasy XI Online
Universe at War: Earth Assault
Game Room
Portal 2 (future release)
So someone needs to use google and study before they claim it is "impossible"
So You are Expecting for Need for speed and midnight club to play
forza and gran turismo let me make it easier for you these two despise each other we will never see that happen unless one company buys the other ok
It is completely possible, don't let idiots who are not aware of the servers implemented tell you otherwise.
Sure a PS3 connects to PSN and Xbox to XBL, but both have an active internet connection used to connect to other servers. Some games host statistics for console dependent games and others even host there games via there own server. All it would take would be for actions via console to be parsed and converted into a single type, as in Y (xbox) and triangle(ps3) to be changed to something as button_1 and such, then sent to the external (non console) servers. These servers would then send send the responses and other information that is parsed by the game to relate to the specific console controllers.
However this is a data intensive project and would require a rewrite on the basic server/client communications. It might happen in the future, it may not. We shall see.
