Here are your options:
1. Get a fan upgrade, you can get fan's that make practically no noise because they have about 16 blades whereas a PS3 fan only has six I think.
2.Get a fan attachment for the back, there are loads of clip on fan attachments that go straight on to the back on of the PS3 and use the PS3's cable as it's power supply ( this may be a bit noisier)
3.Turn the thing off, it clearly needs time to cool and your just draining your just draining your electricity bill and making your PS3's life shorter because over heating is one of the main causes of YLOD.
4.Keep the room cool, I always like my room to be cold so I leave the windows open even in the winter, I normally lay in bed under my quilt when I play so I don't get cold.
5.Keep something like a fan on it even when it is off to help it cool.
6.Don't keep it on any material like fabric and carpet as it's hard for the heat to escape and it will just make your PS3 hotter, keep it on either, glass, plastic, or wood to allow the heat to escape from underneath it.
I have a 60GB PS3 which I bought within the first week of Sony actually releasing it and it's still alive and never had any problems and sometimes it's on all night where I fall asleep watching a film. All I do is keep the room temperature down by leaving the windows open.
thanks for that, i will turn it off for a good 2 hours, maybe that will help? also will set up a standard fan and direct it towards the back of the PS3.
