I Did not make this, A GAP member did

So I've been looking into this 2.7 update rumour and came to the conclusion that it is not true. I looked through a bunch of old posts by Neobara and found that he is VERY upset with the in-game XMB and the lack of some key XMB features with the PS3. My guess is that he is just so fed up, that he decided to throw together this list in hopes of starting this huge rumour such that Sony would respond and deny or confirm them. Just take a look at some of this complaints and then match them up with the items in his 2.7 list.

It is just too perfect that all his complaints have been addressed in this list that he supposedly "heard from a friend". I think this n00b Neobara's rumour has been BUSTED.

Here's the link to his complaints: You must login or register to view this content.

Here's the link to his 2.7 WANT list. lol: You must login or register to view this content.

But I'll post them here and highlight the specific items he complains about that appear in his list (Take a close look at his attitude and his complaints and you can easily parallel them with the items in his 2.7 list...This Neobara guy is clearly a sad sad individual who is trying to get attention from Sony...He needs Sony to reassure him that his features will make it into 2.7):

-Is it just me or is the only feature useful in the in-game XMB the Friends category? Not only is the In-Game XMB still slow and clunky as **bleep** (i'm still hoping for a complete overhaul of the damn thing) but the only feature that is being supported during a game is sending messages to friends, which is fine, but then it begs the question what's the point of ALL THE OTHER PARTS OF THE XMB? It's just a waste of space.
Who else thinks that this is a disappointment? In-game music on the PS# still doesn't exist in anything other than Warhawk and it's been like 4+ months. Trophies? Great success. In-game music and In-game XMB in general? Major fail. I hope they totally revamp the XMB.

-youngjdaguru said: Only! You got a problem do us all a favor & blog it and pawn your PS3! :smileyhappy:

-Don't get me wrong. I'm glad we have friend-messaging in a game... but if that's the ONLY thing that works in-game it begs the question: What's the point of having the ENTIRE XMB in-game? It's just slowing down the system and making it a chore to navigate. Sony should cut out all the features of the XMB you can't use in-game to speed it up.

-thebeast619 said: warhawk isnt the only game with in game music
-Can you name 5 games that do? I can't think of 3 off the top of my head. Warhawk, Pixeljunk Monsters (Woo...), and ROCK BAND 2 of all things. But only in the drum trainer. I'm not talking about custom music that the game's UI supports, i'm talking in-game music via the PS3's XMB.

-thebeast619 said: wats the differnece u still can hear ur music while u playin, thats nothing to complain about

-The difference is if the music feature within the in-game XMB isn't being USED then it's a waste of space. If the only part of the in-game "XMB" that can be used is the friends list and messaging system then the rest of the XMB can be cut out and then at least the in-game FRIENDS LIST wouldn't be so slow-to-load and clunky.

-LSB123 said: Midnight Club 4 has custom tunes

-Wooow.. glad that AAA game has this awesome feature. I really want Sony to improve the XMB in the next firmware update... they made the Store and other parts of the PS3 soooo polished and awesome, i can only assume the current XMB is just a placeholder for osmething more finished to come along. It's too half-assed to keep as is, right?

-i-Lo said: I think that the in-game XMB should be cut down to the relevant features to not only make it smoother but also reduce the memory footprint of the OS.

-That's exactly what i want. I just hope it happens soon. 360 got its improved in-game interface, i think PS3 owners need theirs soon as well. Voice chat and in-game picture-sending through messages is fine too.

-XenoLoco said: you can also enter the accesory settings, hah!

-It only takes like 2 minutes due to all the loading... and if you're talking about controllers that can be done in 5 seconds by holding down the PS3 button to access the older menu. That's another thing.. it makes the new in-game XMB look even more unpolished with the old menu system still looming in the background. It's so obvious they aren't done with it.

-onlineatron said: I don't think it's pointless. Messaging friends is great, and being able to jump to demos and other apps without having to go back to menu is great (and something 360 has only just implemented with NXE).. but it it SLUGGISH, and ugly. It takes several seconds to load icons and feels too low res.

-Right? Like it's in 480p or something. I assume when they do polish it it'll look better AND be theme-able. That makes sense right? Adding a THEME to your In-game XMB?

-cubert said: It needs to be faster!!!!! Same goes for the trophy cards. And support for music in every game would be nice.
-I actually forgot about the Gamer Cards. Those load slow as hell too. And what's up with the Trophy Synchronization? Why isn't that automatic? The current playstation store started out kind of sluggish as well, so i'm hoping all of these problems will be fixed in a future firmware update.... it's kind of sad.
EDIT: And here's another thing that's small but easily changable.... why isn't there any sound-effects in the in-game xmb? It makes the interface feel even more awkward.

-gouveia said: you can do more things jackass lol
-1) Use friend features
2) Change accessory settings
3) Look at personal trophy list
4) Launch into other things on the xmb by exiting out of the game you're playing
What else can it do, exactly, oh smart one?

This what futures where said

Friends List:
- Voice Messaging is now available as an alternative to text after selecting a user on the friends list. Voice message recordings are capped at 30 seconds.
- Home Integration: Saved Playstation Home avatar photos can be selected as photo ID for Gamer Card/Friends List.
- Trophy number and Gamer Level are listed under Friend names for quick reference.

Gamer Card & Trophies:
- Gamer Card layout has been changed to more closely resemble the Playstation Store aesthetic.
- Past Trophy information can be viewed in detail by selecting "Recent Trophy History" option.
- Newly aquired trophies auto-sync in the background
- Server infrastructure for Trophies has been optimized. Resulting in faster retrieval time for Gamer Card and Trophy information.

In-Game XMB:
- Loading time for In-Game XMB has been drastically reduced, resulting in a more seemless in-game experience.
- "Theme settings" options while in-game is now available, allowing custom themes to be applied to the In-Game XMB.
- Internet Browser can now be accessed while in-game. (UPDATED...Please see further in this thread for Neobara's complaint about this one)
- Voice messaging and voice chat options can be used while in-game.
- Options that cannot be used in the XMB during game sessions are grayed out (but still selectable) to eliminate user accessibility confusion.

Misc:
- Other slight UI tweaks and enhancements.

Here is clearly a big whiner and a HUGE advocate for changing the XMB. It just seems too perfect that the next 2.7 update would completely address his complaints by overhauling the XMB to his liking. You be the judge, but I'm calling BS on this guy.

would be nice for ingame web browsing

In-game web browsing? You're busy playing games...why browse the web?

Neobara responds:
Gamefaqs... duh. Stuck in a game and you can just look up a walkthrough or something right then and there

Later in the thread, Neobara writes:
Right, because there isn't a such thing as optimization for firmware. Oh wait, didn't the 360 get a total interface overhaul and improve its loading in-game? Oh... so it iiiiisss possible.
