Written by SchaffinOSX (Retired Staff)

Killzone 2, although a widely praised title, had its problems. Many people complained about lag in-game, which resulted in much frustration.

An example of this lag would be, say, you wanting to throw a grenade. A horde of Helghast running towards you, your primary and secondary weapons empty and useless. Of course, the enemies are firing at you, so what do you do? You reach to your side and throw a grenade. Unfortunately, when you clicked the button, you still had a chance; but when your character actually threw the grenade, it was too late.

This issue has allegedly been removed from Killzone 3, which worried some gamers that the "weighted" feeling of the game would also be removed. Senior Producer Steven Ter Heide tells us not to worry:

"Controls are very important and have been quite the challenge," he says. "There still is some confusion about the ‘weighty’ feel and lag. Those two things are different. We removed the lag completely. This means that when you press a button or move a stick, things happen. This is instantaneous, as it should be. This was a problem with Killzone 2 that we in part remedied with a patch."

"The weighty feel and skill required to pull of shots comes from things like animation and weapon setup with things like recoil. We are carefully balancing the weapons so each retains its properties and plays into people’s preferences. We’re not done yet, and part of why we do a public beta is to get more feedback on top of all of the playtesting we have already done."

"Fine-tuning this will go on for a while as it’s very important to get that right feeling. We’re looking for something that is easy to get into, and takes skill to master."

If you're one of the many gamers who dislikes the odd float-like jumps of the Halo series, this should certainly be good news to you. It seems that Guerilla Games is going all out to ensure that we, the gamers, are pleased with the next installment to a widely praised series. Nonetheless, we've heard promises before. Will Guerilla Games live up to them?

I like the weighty feel, it simulates realism. Glad to see the lag go.

Sadly that gone.......most of it. What good is GG left bits in place from that and now it messy.

See to remove lag your need to remove the cause which in this case the controller.
Like how something which is not lag got measured as lag.
