Some people say it messes your PS3 up, I personally did the fan test and it hasn't affected my PS3, so I think you're good.

Normally don't do this things, but I was curious so I jumped into PS forums.

Most people that said it didn't work, either didn't know how to spell, or said "I will never try it", meaning they really didn't know shit.

The ones that said it worked for them, obviously tried it, so I tried. No dust came out, but PS3 Slim is fine.
