Game Play:
As the player makes kills, he gains adrenaline (shown in the upper right hand corner as silver bullets for empty, and red bullets for adrenaline). You gain one adrenaline point for gun kills, and two adrenaline points for knife kills. For one adrenaline point, the player can curve bullets (as depicted in the film) by adjusting the line of fire prior to pulling the trigger. The bullet can hit multiple targets in one curve. The game will also feature Max Payne-style Bullet Time gameplay mechanics. To do this the player must be behind cover, and then press a context sensitive button to enter Bullet Time. You also dual-wield pistols. There is also heavy use of the cover system, which rewards the player for efficient use of cover, much like the Gears of War series. While in cover, you can choose to blind-fire, which suppresses the enemy and accents the screen with grey. While the screen is accented, Wesley can move between cover much faster and without the knowledge of his enemies, allowing for flanking maneuvers. The gameplay is very heavy in the use of context-sensitive actions, from moving from cover to cover, stabbing enemies with a knife around cover, taking enemies as human shields, or even engaging in on-rails-shooting cinematic cutscenes, where you control the aiming of the weapon while Wesley runs through the environment. Later on, Wesley faces off against other members of assassin fraternities who possess the same powers as he does.
There are three difficulties in the game, each strongly named to reflect the spirit of the comic. The easiest difficulty is "Pussy", the middle difficulty named "Assassin", and the highest being "The Killer", the name of the main protagonist of the comic.
Plot:
Set about five hours after the events of the film, Wesley Gibson continues his transformation into a full-fledged assassin and heir to a legacy of a secret fraternity of assassins. He continues his quest with a new mission to seek out the French chapter of The Fraternity, hunt down The Immortal and finally discover the truth about his family. While the plot of the movie revolves around Wesley's relationship with his father, the plot of the game will revolve around his relationship with his mother.
Development:
It was announced that a demo will be released on Xbox Live and the Playstation Network on March 5th. In America, the game will be released on the 24th March and in the UK it will be 4th of April. The demo was recently released. The demo features the level Fear Of Flying. The demo features the player as Cross as he is on an airplane 30,000 Ft above the ground trying to escape. It also includes some tutorials to help the player in the game. In the demo's tutorial, you learn how to bullet-curve, basic combat & enhanced quick time movement (bullet time). The demo features a clip of 'The Immortal' who is the antagonist in Wanted: Weapons Of Fate.
Thomas Kretschmann is reprising his role as Cross from the movie, and Wesley's costume is based on that of the comic book.
