What kind of game is it?
Dead Space 2 is a third-person, sci-fi survival horror game that pits a lone man against an army of mutated monstrosities. Creeping, slow-build terror is paired with jack-in-the-box style scares for a unique survival horror experience. The sequel to Dead Space (natch), Dead Space 2 continues the story of the first game as well as introducing some new elements, the most prominent of which is multiplayer.

Who is the developer?
Visceral Games, a development studio owned by publisher Electronic Arts is behind this space-spook-a-thon. They've been around since 2001, creating high profile games like Dante's Inferno, The Simpson's Game, The Godfather games, and, of course, the original Dead Space.

What's the story?
Dead Space 2 begins in 2511, three years after the events of Dead Space, and tells the story of Isaac Clarke, an engineer whose unfortunate fate is to be menaced by monsters created by an alien infestation. The virus-like wrongness inhabits humans and transforms them into malevolent abominations called Necromorphs. Clarke has (seemingly) gone mad from his misadventures in the first game, and Dead Space 2 opens with Clarke in a mental institution/hospital located on The Sprawl, a densely populated city built on Titan, a moon of Saturn. After his escape, he learns that the entire Sprawl has been infected, so Necromorphs are everywhere. While Clarke is the main character, the setting and atmosphere are key to setting the kind of claustrophobic mood that propels this story along.

Multiplayer/Online?
Dead Space 2's multiplayer mode pits a team of four human characters against a team of four Necromorphs, a bit like the multiplayer in Left 4 Dead. The humans are trying to finish an objective; the Necromorphs try to keep the humans from accomplishing their goal. Each playable character has two weapons in their arsenal. New weapons and their secondary firing modes can be unlocked through level progression.

"What you feel is a creepy, frightening exhilaration from Moment One. Here’s the deal. Imagine bemoaning the bad luck of having to make your way through the nooks and crannies of the Crypt, a shadowy, icy area below the Church of Unitology (where the oddly religious worship in the Dead Space universe). You’re wearing one of Isaac’s mining suits that’s insulated, but you can tell it’s terribly cold. You see and hear a burst of icy mist that is forced through a vent. It startles, making you jump back a step before you move forward."

"Playing as a Necromorph is not an easy feat and some very intricate teamwork is required to take down the Sprawl security force. For the humans, at least, each map is relatively objective based, with up to five game types making the final cut, and whether the team is attempting to activate a bomb, or a beacon, your job as a Necromorph is simply to murder them before they can be successful."
