(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So, apparently Capcom has started using a DRM on PlayStation Network games (in Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 for example) that forces us to connect to the internet each time we want to play the game. The funny part is that the game doesn't even have online modes! :carling:
The game checks if you're connected to PSN, and if you aren't you're pretty much out of luck because the game won't load.
Ubisoft had a DRM similar to this one, i think AC2 used it.

In my opinion this is simply absurd! If i'm not going to play online i should be able to start the game without an internet connection... :dunce:
So, what do you guys think? Will this be the future of gaming?
If they think this is gonna stop piracy, they need to think again. No wonder some resort to piracy, and if this is indeed the future of gaming most people will probably start doing it.

Do a barrel roll!
I hope they don't. I play my ps3 or watch tv if my internets down, and there are many people who don't have internet access.

i don't think they can do this to every game
but also it would be very annoying if you have a lot of subscribers and just want to play offline due to all the message spam they get daily (zzirgrizz)
Edit: Netflix has it aswell

You stream instantly from Netflix, what good would the app be WITHOUT internet?

Master of teh internetz
They can't do that for every game.

Think about this: That makes the PS3 useless for players who don't have routers/can't connect their PS3 to their modem.

I know there are a few people like that. My friend's parents are divorced and he can only play online when he's at his Dad's house (One weekend a fortnight) because his mum's house doesn't have a router.

If they had that for EVERY game, then they'd have to provide a way to connect to the internet built-in to the console. Otherwise they'd get a lot of law suits for selling a console that a lot of people can't even use...
