It reads CD's tho.. ie Music CD's, Dvd's..

does anyone know how much it costs for Sony to do it ?

Sony does it for around 150 i believe...

I had this problem last year.
My honest opinion, spend the money and get a professional to do it. I spent $100CDN on getting mine fixed, and it has a 2 year warranty. It's a lot less hassle.

you can do it yourself very easy, but you need the same lens.

if you want VERY detailed service manuals ( sensitive for sony cuz they are illigal=D)

look on the Team-Blizzard website ( download section " Manuals.zip" )
you will see that its very easy (A)

Noob Q, but how do i find what lens i need for my Ps3 ?
i was thinking about doing it myself, But i wanted to see what Sony would do/say..

Dissamble the Bd-Drive and look what Lens you have is 1 method other is to look at google ,
there is an list of lens numbers assambled in what moddel Ps3.

after you bought the Lens Search on Team-Blizzard Website in the download Section the Manuals.Zip Download and then search for the Bd-Drive Part on your moddel
