I really see no diffrence between an HDMI recorder and a Hauppauge HDPVR using component cables.

Componet is the worse one of the two, it's analogue so the signal / picture is worse and to put it simple it's the shut one and I want to just find a HD PVR that is like the Hauppauge HD PVR but uses HDMI??

For that one isn't it I plug that into my PC I connect my PS3 throughout HDMI to that and then there's, (now I get confused) is there then an output back to the TV or do I use a HDMI splitter from PS3 and have one going to TV and one going to that plug in??

They have to types, one the plugs into a PCI slot (no output, so you'd have to play on you PC), and and USB one (exactly like the HD PVR but with HDMI, you can play on HD TV and record on PC at same time)

So for the plug in one I would have to use a HDMI splitter.
