have you got a psp? if so try the downgraid jig and reinstall new firmware, or try a new hard drive if you have a spare 1
ps, have you tryed service mode and the restore settings?

dl it from playstation, put it in a usb /PS3UPDAT.PUP

Just tried swapping HDDs and it updated the database on it then tryed to turn on the ps3 and froze again. Going to try the update now.
