South Korean company, LG Electronics Inc., has been in a legal dispute over patents with Sony Corp. Since December 28 of last year when Sony filed a complaint against LG specifically their mobile phones. Sony alleges that LG is infringing on seven patents from Sony.

We all thought that this tussle would just resolve itself and we won’t hear anything about it again but just recently, LG fired back and they also filed two complaints to the U.S. International Trade Commission saying that Sony’s Blue-ray players and Sony’s PlayStation 3 infringe on four of their patents.

The International Trade Commission is now looking into the claims and we (the gamers that we are) will be looking closely on this. We’ll have updates if anything new comes up.

For the record, this writer thinks that eventually, these two companies will just even itself out and cancel their claims. BUT.. wouldn’t it be weird if LG wins their dispute and all of the PlayStation 3 in the US would be recalled.
