was just thinking there, I have been through a few ps3's in my time, Im on my fourth, all previous models failed me, usually blu-ray of death, or a brick during an update
so what will happen when we all eventually get YLOD or some failure....will all our backed up stuff become redundant, will us jailbreakers become extinct over time, as ps3's tend to burn out fairly often ?
i dont think we'll see a future fw cfw ?, i hope im wrong, otherwise its just a matter of time, before all jail-breakable ps3's die out

I've had my PS3 since 2007, Since than I've upgraded too 160 GB. I've left my PS3 on so much it has yet had no problems. People tend to leave their PS3's in places where it collect a lot of dust. It can lead to system failure.
Also when you step away from your PS3, people tend to keep the game disc in the game for a period of time when doing other things and not playing the game. That can screw up your video card. You should always take out your disc so you have nothing running in your gaming console.
well Im glad some of you have had pleasant, long living ps3 experiences, but this cant be said for an awful lot of us, I live in Ireland, and in my ps3 clan, out of 100 members, the majority have been affected someway or another over the last few years, just because it didnt happen to you (yet ) doesnt mean the machine isnt prone to self distruct,
in-fact the bbc made a show about it about a year and a bit ago ! You must login or register to view this content.

My launch ps3 bit the dust a couple months back. I always had it in a very open area, never on a carpet and tried o blow the dust out about once a month. Doesn't matter howw well you take care of them it seems.
