Sony will soon allow PlayStation 3 owners to back up their game saves to an online storage, allowing players to access their save data from any PS3 console.
The feature, which will be available as part of the system software update (v3.60) tomorrow, March 10, 2011, can only be accessed by PlayStation Plus subscribers. No word yet if cloud saves will become available to non-subscribers. A Sony representative told IGN, "We haven't announced any plans for it to be available to everyone at this time."
Sony says that up to 150MB of game save data can be stored and a maximum of 1,000 data files per PlayStation Network account. Users can check the amount of space left via the XrossMediaBar. "Copy-prohibited save data" is also supported and all previously backed-up save data can be restored once every 24 hours.
Sony also notes that "most" current PS3 titles will be compatible with online storage for game saves, but that all future titles will support the feature.
When the update goes live tomorrow, PlayStation Plus subscribers can access the online storage feature following the instructions below:
To back-up:
1. Select [Game] > [Save Data Utility].
2. Focus on the save data you wish to back up.
3. Open up the option menu using "Triangle" and select [Copy].
4. Select [Online Storage] as the destination of back up.
To copy:
1. Select [Game] > [Save Data Utility] > [Online Storage].
2. Focus on the save data you wish to copy.
3. Open up an option menu using "Triangle" and select [Copy].

As I was saying already it seems that with this "Scheduled Maintenance" that is going on today with the PlayStation it has a lot to do with this new feature that will be "PlayStation Plus" that will be available tomorrow will back up their game saves to an online storage and it will allow players to access their save data from any PS3 console.
This is just my own opinion and stand on the news that I found out, and as I'm a PS+ member, I'm glad that this can be an option if you want to back up your saved games and stuff that you can make room on your PS3.
It's will only be available for PS+ subscribers tomorrow, no word or if it will be available for non-subscribers. I hope it will be made available for everyone at some time.
