so this is the situation
i have a ps3 with the YOLD (bless it) on 3.55 FW and a ps3 on 3.56 working fine

i am dying to go online but i dont want to update becuase of the small chance of a 3.56 CFW i know its a longshot but if i update to 3.60 and then a 3.56 CFW comes out im gonna be pissed of so basically this is what im thinking of doing

buying a ps3 on 3.41/55 fw with a broken bluray drive off ebay for like 50/60 quid and swapping to bluray drives, should i do this or shall i get my YOLD fixed and also with regards to updating i am on the verge of updating any update that require surveys (i have a downloader) or downgrades that require bricking i will test casue i am shit bored and i really wanna downgrade so please tell me:

should i update to 3.60 or stay on 3.56
should i get my YOLD fixed
should i buy an 2nd 3.41/55 ps3 and swap the bluray drives
should i downgrade brick if so how
tell me of any cfw 3.56 (if they are fake and they brick so what i will try downgrade)

well i had my the ylod i sent mines back to sony and got a 3.15 fw ps3. if u got the money send it to sony

You can easily fix the YLOD one.
Simply but arctic silver.
Than open your ps3 to you see the NAND chip and properly apply thermal paste to it. Evenly coating it and coating it very smoothly.
Than put it all back together.
Find a tut I did this to my old one it it runs perfectly. I saw the thermal paste job SONY does and they just splat it on there.

nice could you post a vid tutorial or is it just written cause like i saw some stuff on youtube about taking it apart and you had to do it in a certain way

You should either:

1) Update to 3.60 (Quite doubtful that there will be a 3.56 CFW)
2) YLOD is sometimes an easy fix if you are careful and follow a correct tutorial. Try that before upgrading to 3.60 on your other PS3.

na no warranty just call them and tell them u have the ylod and they'll get your info and you need a credit card though
