(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Well I have been getting some controversy about what I like to refer to as "PSN Links".

There are the PSNS (Playstation Network Store) Protocol links that take you to the store to buy the item with the given CID (Content ID).

Now one person compared them to torrents, which I flatly dis-agree.

Comparison..

Torrents:

  • They are generated by the user via a computer program
  • The content is on a users computer
  • The content is usually copywrited
  • The torrents are not exactly public information.
  • They can be created and deleted and re-created at any given time.

PSN Links:

  • They are created by sony
  • The CID's (Content ID's) which are the snifigant part of the link is uniqe, set in stone, and will never be changed
  • The copywrited material is hosted by sony
  • The material requires activation
  • A regular PS3 is required to actually pay
  • A rebug ps3 on the QA net isn't because of a fake credit card on the account. This is basically because of sony..

So from what I see, torrents require no activation and isn't public info. They are user-distributed content thats cracked/illegal. Sony allows us to "buy" the content at no charge via the fake finances in the account, where-as normally we would have to pay.

PSN Links intent is piracy, but directly it does nothing but take us to the store to pay, where SONY allows it for free.

I know this thread is kinda random, but I want you ppl's opinion's on this, as its bound to come around sometime.

PSN Links intent is piracy, but doesn't do it directly. So are they illegal to host/distribute? are they warez??? I also ask because of ethical/legal issues even on NGU.

please reply with you opinions/comments, and vote in the poll.
