(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); As Sony works to secure the PlayStation Network after a malicious attack on the service, it appears the system will be back online within a week, according to a post on the PlayStation Blog. But, it’s not that simple.

Patrick Seybold, senior director of Corporate Communications & Social Media with Sony Computer Entertainment America, said Sony is sending messages to registered account holders about compromised personal information. It now appears Sony has a timetable to restore parts of the PSN and Qriocity service.

“We have a clear path to have PlayStation Network and Qriocity systems back online, and expect to restore some services within a week,”

Seybold wrote on the PS Blog.

That means some parts of the PSN and Qriocity services may not be available right away. For the past six days, PSN users have waited to hear an official reason for the PSN outages and a timeframe for restoration. Sony has responded, but we expect to have more information about what security measures were taken to ensure this issue does not come back, and when specifically we’ll be back online.

Stay tuned.
