(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); At 12 AM Central on May 1st the Representative Corporate Executive Officer, Kazuo Hirai, did a press conference with the senior vice presidents Shinki Hasejima and Shiro Kambe. They announced that they had indeed experienced external intrusion by some "Skilled people who covered all of their tracks." If you want to see the details of the press conference just read more!

New Information:

Sony will give 30 days of PSN+ and Qriocity for free to all users. Each territory will be offering selected PlayStation entertainment content for free download. Specific details of this content will be announced in each region soon. Sony are conducting a federal investigation in the US to catch the attackers. System software update that will require all users to change their PSN and Qriocity passwords. Can only be changed on the same system. It was created on or by the same email. Sony encouraging those who use the same password for PSN and Qriocity as they do for other services to change all passwords. Sony planning to restart some of their services within a week. Sony aiming to restore full services within the month.Sony says they will learn from this attack and enhance their data management.

They announced that everything stolen was as followed,
•-Name
•-Date of birth
•-Address
•-Email
•-Password
•-PSN
•-Credit Card's
•-Lists of all purchases

Luckily, your security questions have NOT been compromised!

Shinki Hasejima then goes on to explain how the firewalls between the servers were bypassed with a few diagrams which can be found here, Image 1 and here, Image 2 . He explains how the 'hacker' used tunnels to get in and out of the servers when grabbing the information.

Kazuo Hirai says, "10 million users DID have credit cards and have been exploited and compromised. All servers have been moved to San Diego where the security is far more advanced and we have taken a lot more security into mind to ensure this will not happen again." "PS3 WILL have a system software update that will require all users to change their PSN emails and passwords."

Playstation is allowing customers to sign in to check all recent purchases on the Playstation Network to ensure the customers are not being exploited. Sony will NOT contact customers under any circumstances asking for any personal information.

They will be giving selected content for free, and 30 days free service to Playstation Plus says Kazuo Hirai.

Full services will be restored sometime this month, including the PSN store and all online games, sometime this month. Keep in mind, it is May now.

Sony has announced that they have received threats from "Anonymous" that every single Sony Staff members families have been exploited with phone calls to their works and children’s schools. Anon has also done a "Sit-In" at Sony stores.

"Again, we would like to offer our deepest apologies to our millions of customers for allowing them to be compromised and removing our services for an extended period of time, thank you very much, this concludes our presentation." "Passwords used on the Playstation Network were not encrypted in anyway."

Q&A:

1. When asked how many credit card details were on the network, Kaz said 10 million, but they can not be sure if anyone will be at risk.
2. When asked what legal actions can be taken Kaz revealed that authorities in a number of regions have come forward with inquiries and these will
be dealt with on an individual basis.
3. When asked what they thought the purpose of the attack was, Kaz said they are not in a position to say due to lack of information.
4. When asked about credit card and password encryption, they revealed that password information is not encrypted but credit card information was stored in a different location on the network.

New Security measures added to the network:

1. Added automated software monitoring and configuration management to help defend against new attacks
2. Enhanced levels of data protection and encryption
3. Enhanced ability to detect software intrusions within the network, unauthorized access and unusual activity patterns
4. Implementation of additional firewalls

Yeah I've used all of my like 10 emails to make as many accounts for certain stuff, I really cant be arsed to change the email on every one of those. Im up for changing the password but my main email has a totally secure password so Im not worried about that getting hacked... I just dont really want to make a new account.
