as i have a knackered bluray in my cfw ps3 and most games dont load due to not having a disk in the drive

yes as long as there the same format then yes because they dont need the cfw to run just install
you might run into a problem with the licencing though
i do know for a fact norm psn dt works
i know pirated psn games dt works as well
