(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have a 40gb hard drive with 3.55 jb firmware on it, and a 320gb 3.60 in my ps3. What would happen if I put the 3.55 drive in the ps3? Will it boot into 3.55 or will it just not accept it?

You'll lose all files stored on the 320gb hard drive as each drive needs formatted when put into a new PS3. So you'll lose files such as music, photos, videos, game installations, save data, your unsynced trophies, all that stuff is gone. It won't affect the firmware and it will load normally. If you put that 40gb back into the old PS3, then it's fine (because it's already associated with that PS3) but if you put it into your other PS3, it's data will be formatted too.
