The multiplayer of the (soon-to-be Game of the Year) Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception will be in beta starting on June 28th for all of you Playstation Plus subscribers & those of you who have purchased the 2011 title inFamous 2 & you have obtained the beta code that came with it. For those of you who don't have either of those two options, you'll have to wait with the rest of Playstation Network until June 4th, when the beta will go public.
You will only be playing in two maps, one that involves an airfield & another which takes place in a chateau in France, these landscapes will be dynamic, making your experience with Naughty Dog's hit franchise even better.
The characters that will be involved in the beta will be: Drake, Sully, & treasure hunters. If you're looking to be on the rebellious evil side, you'll play as some dastardly pirates (arghh matey!). All of these avatars will be customizable to your approval.
As for guns, the AK74, Dragon Sniper, G-Mal, & a variety of RPGs & pistols will be making their pro debut for everybody to enjoy. Long guns can be modified with clip size or the ability to locate enemies, while pistols can increase ammo capacity and rate of fire.
If you earn enough medals throughout your time in the online beta, you'll have the option to choose different abilities before the match begins. These exclusive & special abilities will include: Smoke Bomb, Speedy G, RPG!!!, & Cluster Bomb.
You'll get eight boosters & two slots to choose from
- Slot one will include:
- Come Here - Tracks the player who last offed you until his or her next death.
- Retaliation - Respawn with the weapon which killed you.
- Cloaked - Silent, invisible on radar.
- Weapon Expert - Adds more mod capacity to weapons.
- And slot two will include:
- Back in the Saddle - Decreased respawn time.
- Bargain - Cheaper medal kickbacks.
- Power Hunter - Locate power weapons.
- Daredevil - Ammo from taunting defeated opponents.
A new feature being added to the Uncharted multiplayer system is a special goody named 'Power Play', Power Play gives you the option to attempt a come-back if you're losing in the middle of the game (Let's hope there's mini-scenes!). There will be four different types of Power Plays featured in the Uncharted 3 beta:
- Marked Man – A person on the winning team is marked, and the losing team gets 3 points if they kill him. Meanwhile, the winning team gets double cash for each kill and a special medal if the Marked Man doesn’t die.
- Cursed – The winning team sees all characters as skeletons and friendly fire is turned on. Each time the losing team gets a kill or the winning team kills one of its own, the losing team gets two points. Meanwhile, the winning team gets double cash for each member of the losing team killed.
- Exposed – The winning team’s location is revealed to the losing team. The winning team gets double cash for each losing team member killed.
- Double Damage – Losing team inflicts double damage. Winning team earns double cash for each kill.
The beta is set to end on July 13th, which makes it a shorter beta than most.
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is set to be released on November 1st, 2011.
