So my fat ps3 (first model released) died last week from the YLOD. However, i got it repaired during the week and all was well. I hadnt played it much up until last night when i got escalation and probably had a good 3-4 of splitscreen zombies. Again all went fine, the playstation didnt even sound like it was getting hot. This morning though, i was playing call of the dead, and about 10 mins in the playstation randomly yellow lighted. It booted up again after, but im really worried that it will die again, can anyone advise me on what to do?
Did Sony fix the first YLOD for you? If so, that is a problem. All they will do is resolder it with the lead-free junk, which is why the reflow method is only a temporary fix. You will need to have it reballed. That is a more permanent fix. There are many sites that can do it for $80-90, and they will all use the lead solder, which will last much, much longer than what Sony offers you.
