ive seen some titles but never really heard much about it. is it be good enough to sit through the iso getting downloaded?

yes but i download an Iso a long time ago of .Hack//G.U 2 Vol2 / but it lagged at some point in the game
oh yeah the first series isn't as good as the .Hack//G.U series but it is needed to understand some things in the game

Really? guess you guys didn't stick till 2007 to get a ps3
2006-2007 is its year of fame

The .Hack games I know of on the PS2 are a 4 part series (Infection, Mutation, Outbreak and Quarantine IIRC). There's anime/manga set in the same world as these games, so the story is pretty good.

However the gameplay (mainly the combat) leaves a little to be desired, as it gets pretty repetitive. Would definitely recommend the game though, overall. Check out some youtube videos to see if you're interested:
