Any hard drive will work. But take into consideration that the hard drive will be formatted to NTFS, so it will not show up on the ps3. The hard drive must be formatted to fat32 before it can be used.

i have a 2tb on mine and a 1.5tb
and my brother has a 1tb
so a ps3 will handle it as long as you format it to fat 32

Yes the 1TB externals are compatible with all PS3 units. However, the internal 1TB HDD are not compatible as most of them are too large to insert into the HDD bay.

Basically if you're going for an External HDD, then it can be any size: 2.5" Laptop Size, 3.5" Desktop Size.

But if you want to upgrade the PS3's Internal HDD, then it must be a 2.5" HDD.
